WHO IS AN ALPHA MALE

An alpha male is a male at the top of the socio-sexual hierarchy, both in the animal world and most especially amongst humans. They are prototype that commands the highest level of social and sexual exaltation. 

An alpha male is a born leader. The type that is most admired and looked up to by other men to protect them, solve problems and bring up creative ideas that help them navigate delicate situations. He is the type that weak men would envy and sometimes beef, as they are intimidated at how effortless he takes on the most difficult tasks and see them through.

Alpha males are naturally craved and desired by women. Because they do not keep their heart by their sleeves nor do they allow their emotions to cloud their judgement, and their intentions, though clean, are kept a puzzle to be solved. Women mostly like them because of this mystery left to be unravelled, a layer of skin after another like an onion. And peeling off these layers naturally and subconsciously intrigues women, they would gladly go on that adventure rather than settling for a man they figured out everything about on the first date.

                                                               

MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT ALPHA MALES

A lot of people have a negative reservation and reaction to the term Alpha male. Mostly as a result of past experience, they’ve had with arrogant and cocky men who parade themselves as Alpha males. Or basically their own self-conviction and misinformation about what an Alpha male really is and what it takes to be one.

Most of the time, Alpha males are perceived as knuckle-dragging gym boys who bully other men, impose their will and force themselves on women. This is utterly wrong which brings us to;

THE ALPHA MALE TRAITS

 

1. They are humans:

As against what society portrays them to be, Alpha males have blood running in their veins, and bones in their frame, not steel. They, therefore, feel like every human does; They feel tired, they feel pain, they feel hunger, they feel heartaches, they feel disappointment, they feel sad, they feel happy, they feel love.

What places them at the top of the hierarchy of men is not the void of human emotions and feelings, but their unique ability to manage these emotions effectively without compromise.

They do not let their losses infest their heart, nor do they allow their wins to get to their head.

So when they fall (which they often do), you cannot step on them, because Alpha males don’t stay on the ground. They scold themselves for their failures more than anyone can, yet gentle with themselves enough to forgive themselves, learn from their mistakes, and push forward, trying again, this time, better equipped.

 2. Self-respect 

This is most times confused for ego. Self-respect is recognizing your worth and value and portraying it accordingly without undermining the values of others.

Alpha males turn up at their workplace and put forward quality work in whatever field they are in. They are mindful of others when they speak and do not impose their beliefs on others, rather, they convince them, confidently with facts. However, Alpha males would not compromise on what they believe to be right and would stand by it, whatever the consequences may be.

They respond diligently to queries and do not claim knowledge of what they don’t know. They sell their values and are alert to the values in others.

 

3. Persistence 

For Alpha males, there is no such thing as failure. Yes, they have their fair share of disappointment but the difference between Alpha males and others is perseverance and persistence. And it is this difference that places them on the top of the pecking order.

The pathway to success is plagued with drifts, turns, bumps, and stumbling blocks. But while others sit at the base of these blocks feeling sorry for themselves, Alpha males make them into stepping stones. Simply by facing their challenges head-on and moving their mountains.

 

4. Knowledgeable 

Alpha males have an in-depth understanding of how the world works. They may not be the brightest in the room or the most intellectual person, but they are the ones everyone wants to listen to because of their vast knowledge of things around them.

Their thirst for knowledge is insatiable. Alpha males are always learning new skills and as against the popular notion, Alpha males are humble and teachable. 

 

5. Leadership 

Alpha males are natural leaders. They are not caught up in leadership tussles nor are they rebellious to authority. But, their natural yet unique ability to read between lines, gather people together in cooperation, be the glue in cracks, and see what others don’t see, set them aside from the crowd and make them great leaders of men.

They are able to solve problems and provide creative ideas to unwoven puzzling situations. They serve as the muse that inspires others to greatness. They raise the bar for everyone else to level up. 

 

6. Courage and Action

Courage isn’t the absence of fear, rather, it is the ability to forge ahead despite the fears. 

• Alpha males do not wait for things to be handed to them, they work for it. 
• They are not afraid to make tough calls, they analyze the situation, make the decision and live with the consequences. 
• They are not afraid to take risks, in fact, that’s what they live for.
• They accept life challenges with grace and make the best out of the most difficult situations.

Alpha males rarely miss an opportunity, because they trust their guts too much to second guess themselves. They do not allow the crippling voice of fear of failure to scare them out of action.

Alpha males are active, always on the front line, seizing opportunities, failing, learning, trying again 

and ultimately winning. 

HOW TO BE AN ALPHA MALE

1. Look good: Looking good includes; dressing up well, smelling nice, having clean nails, a clean shave, and haircut, fresh breath.

2. Build a healthy and fit body: Keeping your body in shape and healthy is essential to being an Alpha male, you will need your body to stay active. So, join a gym and watch what you eat.

3. Be Confident: Carry yourself with style and grace. If you check the first two boxes it will increase your confidence. Don’t be tense, don’t panic, don’t fidget, and never second guess yourself. 

4. Take Responsibility: Pull your weight on every front. Make your presence felt not by announcing yourself or being loud and boastful, but by taking care of duties and solving problems. Alpha males do not wait for things to be done for them, they do it.

5. Treat people well: An Alpha male is not rude and disrespectful. 

• Show empathy towards others.
• Say thank you to those who helped you.
• Apologize sincerely to those you wrong.
• Empower people.
• Volunteer your time to help others.
• Help people for the sake of helping them not to show off.
• Render services to others without expecting compensation.
• Never impose your beliefs, will, or ideas on others.
• Do not demand respect, earn it.

6. Conquer your fears: Don’t let fear stop you from taking ‘calculated’ risks, because only with these risks comes reward. Be ready to push yourself out of your comfort zone and endure the pain that comes from it. Because only through that pain will you grow.

7. Say NO without apologizing, Say YES without compromising: Be honest with people, stand your ground, and don’t be swayed. You don’t feel sorry for saying NO to an offer or request nor should you regret saying YES. Communicate your decisions and choices clearly and honestly. Pick a side and fight for it.

8. Learn new skills: Learning keeps your body and mind sharp. It also enriches your critical thinking and your ability to solve problems. 

9. Keep your word: A man is as good as his word, so much more an Alpha male. Be accountable for every word that comes out of your mouth. Show up at 10 am if you promised to, not a minute late. Do not say a thing you won’t do, do not make a promise you won’t keep.

10. Have fun: Being an Alpha male does not exclude you from the fun of this world. You are a master at all fronts. You know when to work, when to rest, and when to have fun, that’s what makes you an Alpha male. It’s not your stern look or wrinkled face that makes you an Alpha, it’s your strong will. 

• Enjoy quality family time.
• Start a family (if you feel up to it).
• Love your wife and be loyal to her.
• Hang out with friends and associates. 
• Improve your sense of humour, laugh, and make jokes.
• Indulge your hobbies.
• Find genuine happiness and live life. 
• Rest.

Alpha Male;

• Is not an excuse to be rude.
• Is not an excuse to be arrogant.
• Is not a licence to assault, disrespect, or rape women. 
• Is not a licence to deprive people of their rights.
• Is not an excuse to bully or cheat ‘weaker’ men.
• Is not an excuse to commit a crime.
• Does not make you invisible.
